Night Photography

My new digital camera has a time exposure feature. So, I have been tinkering around with it and have a few neat pictures.

This picture was taken in almost complete darkness. The only light I could see was in the gravel just this side of the tressel. Almost all of the light in the background was provided by the cars that passed by during the 16 second exposure. You can see the red streaks from their tail lights. This is at 10x zoom. Notice how the tracks are not as straight as you would expect.

There was a bit more available light in this one.

This is an awesome picture. It has kind of a surrealistic appearance.

Switching yard at nite.

The beautiful Iowa State Capital building in Des Moines, Iowa.

See the red streak of tail lights in the street?

Time exposure during a "pouring" rain late at night. Notice the rain shooting out of the drain spout and the waves of moving water in the street. Because of the duration of the shot, the rain almost appears to be fog.

This was after 10 oclock at night.

This was taken at night during the snow with a flash. The flash did a magificent job and created an interesting effect reflecting off of the snow flakes. This is two pictures that have been seamed together. If you look closely you can see the seam in the center of the picture.

This picture was taken by my friend Tom many years ago. As it ends up, I had taken almost the same picture myself back then. I lost mine, so here is Tom's. Great picture.

Here are some nite shots taken on Mackinac Island off the upper Michigan peninsula.

Downtown Mackinac. Notice the faint images of people
walking through the picture as it was being taken.

Round Island Lighthouse on the right. Don't remember what
the other one is called.

The docks.

The squiggles and streaks above the lights resulted from
camera movement as I released the shutter.

Late night dinner.

Corning, New York. See the streaks of the headlights on the car going by?

Corning, New York.

This did not give me the results I wanted, but it is still
interesting. I need to get out of the city lights so the tree
becomes a silhouette, with the moon lighting up the sky
behind.

Another attempt with a little better results.
